Source populations in Turkish Calculator

5 reference populations from the Classical Antiquity era (Turkey · Balkan Turk, Central Anatolian Turk, Western Anatolian Turk). Each enters the model as one composed Global25 coordinate row.

  • Asian Turkic (600-1000 AD)
  • Hellenic (800-300 BC)
  • Hittite and Phrygian (1700-300 BC)
  • Phoenician (500-200 BC)
  • Ukraine Slav (1000-1300 AD)

About this calculator

Turkish Calculator is a curated Global25 source panel: 5 reference populations from the Classical Antiquity era, each entering the model as one composed coordinate row. It was curated for one scope — Turkey · Balkan Turk, Central Anatolian Turk, Western Anatolian Turk — so its sources are chosen to be informative for that ancestry rather than for everyone. The fit itself is a Monte-Carlo search in the nMonte tradition — weight is distributed across these sources until the weighted mixture sits as close to your pasted coordinate as it can get, and the leftover gap is reported as the fit distance.

Era scoping is what makes the panel meaningful. Every source here is a Classical Antiquity population, so the percentages read as "which of these Classical Antiquity groups does my coordinate resolve into" — not as a family tree and not as a statement about any other period. The same coordinate run against a different era's panel will legitimately return a different breakdown, because the question changed.

The limit to keep in view: a coordinate fit cannot reject a model. It will return percentages from this panel even if none of these populations is genuinely ancestral to you, and the fit distance is the only signal that the answer is strained. Sources that sit close together in the reference space also trade weight almost freely, so treat small differences between neighbouring sources as noise. For a method with a p-value that can test a model and refuse it, see our qpAdm analysis.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Turkish Calculator calculator?

A curated Global25 source panel of 5 reference populations from the Classical Antiquity era (scope: Turkey · Balkan Turk, Central Anatolian Turk, Western Anatolian Turk). Your pasted G25 coordinate is modelled as a weighted mixture of these sources, and the tool reports each source's percentage plus a fit distance that says how closely the mixture lands on your coordinate.

How do I use it?

Paste your Global25 coordinate row — a label followed by 25 comma-separated numbers — into the target field and run the fit. The calculator is preloaded as the source panel. Everything runs in your browser: the coordinate you paste is not uploaded and nothing is stored on our servers.

Is it free?

Yes — this calculator, and every in-browser tool in the Ancestrify Lab, is free and needs no account.

Can this calculator prove my ancestry?

No. A coordinate fit always returns percentages, even from a panel that fits you poorly — the fit distance is the only warning. For a method with a p-value that can actually reject a model, see our qpAdm analysis.
