About this panel

This panel holds 86 curated reference populations of the Late Bronze Age (3000–1200 BC), each entering the ranking as one composed Global25 coordinate row — a population average over its member samples, not an individual. It is the same era panel the paid Global25 Distance report is computed against; the populations listed above are public, read-only reference data.

The score is plain Euclidean distance: for each of the 25 dimensions, take the difference between your value and the population's, square it, sum the 25 squares and take the square root. Every population in the panel is scored that way and the list is sorted, closest first. There is no weighting and nothing fitted — the same input always gives the same ranking.

The limit to keep in view: a distance ranking cannot reject anything, and 'closest' is always relative to this panel — being nearest to a Late Bronze Age (3000–1200 BC) population says where you sit among the samples of that window, not that you descend from them. Populations a little further down the list are often statistically indistinguishable from the top one. For a method with a p-value that can test a model and refuse it, see our qpAdm analysis.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Late Bronze Age (3000–1200 BC) distance calculator do?

It ranks your pasted Global25 coordinate against 86 curated reference populations of the Late Bronze Age (3000–1200 BC) — the same era panel the paid Global25 report is computed against — by plain Euclidean distance across all 25 dimensions, closest first.

How do I use it?

Paste your Global25 coordinate row — a label followed by 25 comma-separated numbers — and run the ranking with this era preselected. Everything runs in your browser: the coordinate you paste is not uploaded and nothing is stored on our servers.

Is it free?

Yes — this calculator, and every in-browser tool in the Ancestrify Lab, is free and needs no account.

Does a small distance prove descent?

No. A population can sit close to you because you genuinely share ancestry with it, or because it is itself a mixture that averages out near your point — and neighbouring rank positions are often statistically indistinguishable. For a method with a p-value that can actually test a model, see our qpAdm analysis.
