In 279 BCE Celtic war bands swept down the Balkans and struck at Delphi itself; the tribes that settled back along the Danube and Sava — chief among them the Scordisci — planted La Tène swords, torcs and oppida in the heart of the peninsula. These genomes belong to that Celtic world on the Balkan frontier, in the last free centuries before Rome.
