Christophorus Corvinus was the last male descendant of the Hunyadi family, whose grandfather Matthias Corvinus ruled Hungary at the height of its Renaissance power. He died as a small child in 1505, extinguishing one of Central Europe's most storied dynasties. His remains, recovered from the Pauline monastery at Lepoglava, were genome-sequenced in 2022 to settle centuries of questions about the family's origins.
